Updated 24 March 2012

Introduction

‘SkiRide’ (hereinafter also ‘We’ and/or ‘Us’ and/or ‘Our’) means SkiRide Media, Ski-Ride Productions, and all companies within the associated Vermellos Group resident anywhere in the world.
SkiRide are committed to protecting your privacy. SkiRide comply with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998 (UK) and aim to maintain consistently high levels of best practice in Our use and processing of your personal information.

How We Use Information You Provide to Us

SkiRide use information We receive from you to verify your email address in order to help prevent unsolicitated emailing/posting (spam) on Our online social networking and members forum platform (the ‘SkiRide Network’), to display/operate the Personal Profile system on the SkiRide Network, to provide the services and/or products you request from Us, to communicate with you and to personalise the information We send you. We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others.
Examples of how We may personalise information We send you include: adding your name/username to the greeting on members-only sections of Our website(s) and/or Newsletter(s) you sign-up to receive from Us; working out which departure airport, ferry port and/or rail terminal is closest to your location; and/or informing you about events/services/offers available in your location and/or area(s) of interest.

Where We ask for your home and/or mobile telephone number, this is to enable Us to contact you in relation to an enquiry you have made, to contact you about relevant products and/or services you have requested, to contact you if there is a problem with your request/order, and/or if there is another genuine reason for Us needing to contact you. If you provide Us with credit/debit card details in order to pay for a product and/or service, We will keep such details secure and ensure that they are only used with your consent specificially for the purposes of paying for the products and/or services you request from Us and/or for any related refunds where appropriate.

When you enter a contest or other promotional feature promoted by Us, We may also ask for your name, postal address, telephone numbers and email address so We can operate and administer the contest/promotion and notify winners.

In cases where you contact Us by telephone, We also reserve the right to ask security questions (which We at Our sole discretion deem appropriate), in order for Us to satisfy ourselves that you are who you say you are.

Generally, by providing any requested information, you consent to SkiRide using that information for administrative purposes and for informing you of other products and/or services: by email, post, telephone and/or SMS. We may also occasionally use information We collect from you to notify you about functionality changes to Our website(s).

Occasionally, We may also use information We collect to notify you by email, post, telephone and/or SMS about new or existing SkiRide products and/or services and/or special offers, however, We will only do this if you have opted-in and consented to receive such notifications from Us.
Each time you receive information from Us, We will provide you with the option to decline to receive further such information from Us (i.e. to opt-out). If you wish to exercise your right to opt-out, please inform Us in accordance with the instructions included with the information We send; or write to Us at SkiRide Media, Data Protection Compliance Officer, 9 Arundel Mews, Arundel Place, Brighton BN2 1GG, England. If you have more than one postal address and/or telephone number and/or email address registered with Us, then please make sure you notify Us about any changes to your preferences for all such postal addresses and/or telephone numbers and/or email addresses.

We store the information you provide to Us, including information inputed via forms you submit from Our website(s), and information which We may collect from your Internet browser. Our server(s), in common with almost all other web servers, logs each page that you visit on Our website(s) and all files that you download from Our website(s).

As required by the Data Protection Act 1998, We follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of all information you submit to Us.

Third parties (i.e. suppliers/providers of products and/or services offered by SkiRide, or external data processing agencies such as mailing/shipping businesses) may deliver to you some of the products and/or services that you request from Us: in such instances, whilst some or all of the information you provide to Us will be disclosed to those third parties, it will only be used for the delivery and administration of those specific products and/or services.
Where We provide information to third parties, We will exercise the strictest control over such third parties contractually, requiring them and any of their agents and/or suppliers to: 1) maintain the security and confidentiality of all such information and to restrict access to such information to their own employees; 2) use such information for agreed purposes only and prevent such information being used for any other purposes and/or by any other parties; 3) refrain from communicating with you other than when expressly concerning the products/services in question; 4) return such information to Us at the conclusion of any contract term and to destroy/delete any copies made of all or any part of such information, unless copies are required to be kept to comply with any statutory regulations. Additionally, We will restrict any information disclosed to the absolute minimum necessary to provide you with the products and/or services in question.

Your Consent

Before you provide Us with any sensitive personal information, We will endeavour to make clear to you the reason(s) why We require it. We will also obtain your consent first. Otherwise, by providing Us with information, or by using Our website(s) and/or SMS shortcode link text service, you consent to the collection, use and processing of such information by Us to provide and/or to send you information about Our products and/or services.

Please note that we have some of Our website(s) servers hosted outside the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA), and that We provide some of Our products/services outside the EU and EEA. Therefore, the information you provide to Us may be transferred outside the EU and/or EEA. Occasionally, SkiRide may also use product and/or service providers outside the EU and/or EEA for the purposes of processing products/services and/or systems testing/maintenance. Some countries outside the EU and/or EEA do not apply the same levels of data security as the UK and/or other countries in the EU and/or EEA. By submitting your details to Us, you consent to this transfer. We will always use every reasonable effort to ensure sufficient protections are in place to safeguard your sensitive personal information.

Subsequent to you purchasing any products and/or services from Us, SkiRide may enter into an arrangement for such products/services to be provided by a third party. In such instances, the terms and conditions of your contract with Us will ensure that you consent to any transfer and/or processing of sensitive personal information to/by such provider, subject to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and associated regulations.

If you post/submit written content, photographic images, videos and/or audio files in relation to your SkiRide Network profile and/or in the SkiRide Network forums, you agree that We can incorporate such content/images/video/audio into Our website(s) content and that We can publish it and display it, together with any related information you write about yourself, and that you grant Us a freely-offered universally-applicable non-exclusive license, without requiring any compensation from Us to you, in order for Us to do so (for the avoidance of doubt: this means you remain free to use/submit/sell your [own copyright] content elsewhere at any time, under similarly non-exclusive terms); if you submit error-correction information and/or suggestions to Us regarding SkiRide's published Copyright content, you agree that (at SkiRide's sole discretion) We may incorporate this into Our Copyright content and that We can publish/display it in any manner that We decide appropriate, without requiring any compensation from Us to you in order for Us to do so; in all such cases, We will not publish any of your direct contact details and/or personally identifiable information, except where you specifically confirm that you wish such information to be published.
